How to Play

  1. Choose Single Player or Multiplayer, pick a level (or set up a Custom board), and choose how many lives each player has.
  2. You start at the bottom of the board. Click — or use the arrow keys and Enter — on any tile in the row directly above your token.
  3. A safe tile turns green and your token moves up one row. A bomb tile explodes — you lose a life, or the game ends if you're in Single Player and out of lives.
  4. In Multiplayer, the turn passes to the next player after every move. Everyone shares the same bomb layout, so a tile someone else already revealed stays revealed for you too.
  5. Reach the HOME tile at the top to win. In Multiplayer, the last player still standing also wins if everyone else runs out of lives first.

Levels Explained

Each preset level sets the board size and how many bombs sit in every row — the higher the level, the bigger the board and the more bombs you need to dodge:

  • Easy — 8 rows, 4 tiles per row, 1 bomb per row.
  • Medium — 10 rows, 4 tiles per row, 2 bombs per row.
  • Hard — 12 rows, 5 tiles per row, 3 bombs per row.
  • Expert — 15 rows, 5 tiles per row, 4 bombs per row.
  • Custom — pick your own rows (5-20), tiles per row (3-8), and bombs per row — the game always keeps at least one safe tile in every row, however many bombs you choose.

Tips to Win

  • Watch which tiles other players reveal — a tile marked safe or bomb stays that way for the rest of the game.
  • More bombs per row means more risk — get comfortable on Easy before moving up to Hard or Expert.
  • In Multiplayer, let an opponent go first on a row you're unsure about — their move reveals information for everyone, including you.
  • Extra lives forgive one bad guess — worth choosing on higher levels, where there are more bombs per row.
  • The board doesn't get easier on later rows — a careful pick beats a rushed one every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tile Bomb Game free to play?

Yes — completely free, no signup, no download. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you do is sent to a server.

Can I play with friends on one device?

Yes. Multiplayer mode supports 2 to 6 players taking turns on the same device (pass-and-play), each with their own name, colour, and token.

Are the bomb positions fair?

Yes. Bombs are placed randomly the moment a game starts, and every row is guaranteed to keep at least one safe tile — there's always a way through, no matter how many bombs you choose per row.

What happens if I run out of lives?

In Single Player, the game ends. In Multiplayer, you're knocked out for the rest of that round, but the game continues for the remaining players — last one standing (or the first to reach Home) wins.

Does my score get saved?

Your best score per level is saved in your browser only, using localStorage — it's not sent anywhere, and it'll still be there next time you play on the same device and browser.
